The Black Prince is known as one of the most popular cakes made by commercial bakeries, but this dessert is also popular with housewives because it is easy to make. It is one of the most affordable cakes in terms of price, and the baking process is relatively simple. That is why it is so popular for home baking.

The Black Prince cake is one of my favorite desserts! It is incredibly delicious, very easy to make, and the syrup makes it especially tender. I would never trade this recipe for another, and I want to share it with you. I'm sure you'll love it too!

Ingredients

For one biscuit:

  • Kefir — 1 cup
  • Sugar — 0.5 cups
  • Flour — 1 cup
  • Eggs — 2
  • Baking soda — 1 teaspoon
  • Cocoa — 2 tablespoons

You will need 2 sponge cakes for the cake.

For the cream:

  • Sour cream 25% — 200 g
  • Powdered sugar — 3 tablespoons
  • Boiled condensed milk — 1 jar

Alternative: you can make cream from 200 g butter, 200 g sour cream, and 0.5 cups sugar.

Preparation

  • Sponge cake:
    • Beat the eggs with sugar for a couple of minutes until fluffy and light in color.
    • Add kefir, baking soda, flour, and cocoa, continuing to beat until the batter is smooth.
    • Pour the batter into a 22 cm diameter pan. Bake at 180°C for about 25–30 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
    • Cool the sponge cake, then cut each into two layers.
  • Cream:
    • Whip the sour cream with powdered sugar.
    • Add the boiled condensed milk and beat for another couple of minutes until smooth.
  • Assembling the cake:
    • Spread the cream between the layers and assemble the cake.
    • Refrigerate for at least a couple of hours to allow the flavors to blend.
    • Decorate as desired: you can use biscuit crumbs or grated chocolate.
